Bundawarrah Pork Gammon Steaks with Caramelized Onion and Apple

Ingredients

2 Bundawarrah Gammon Steaks

1 tab of olive oil

1 tab of butter

2 medium Spanish onions finely sliced lengthways

1 red apple – fuji or gala peeled, quartered, cored and sliced thinly

1 ½ teaspoons of minced ginger

1 tab of brown sugar

1 tab of balsamic or red wine vinegar

2 tabs of water


  • Heat oil and butter in frying pan.
  • Add onions and apples and gently fry for approx. 10 – 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are golden and caramelized
  • Add the vinegar, sugar and water and simmer for 2 minutes and reduce heat. Season to taste
  • Fry the Bundawarrah Gammon Steaks on a medium heat  in a lightly sprayed frying pan until cooked (approximately 6 minutes each side depending on thickness of steak)
  • Serve with caramelized onion and apple
